PhD student accepted to Michigan fMRI Training Course
Second-year graduate student, Lynda Lin, has been accepted to the Training Course in fMRI at the University of Michigan. The University will offer a 2-week intensive course that will train attendees on the motivation for using fMRI, the physics that underlies the technique, the design of experiments, the acquisition of data, the analysis of those data, and the interpretation of brain activations that result. Congratulations, Lynda!
DSN Lab – Relaunched at UNC Chapel Hill!
The DSN Lab has officially moved from the University of Illinois to the Psychology Department at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill! Go Tar Heels!
Yang Qu defends his dissertation!
Congratulations to Yang Qu, who successfully defended his dissertation! Dr. Qu will begin a postdoctoral position at Stanford University in September.
PhD student accepted to Sackler Summer Institute
Second-year graduate student, Kathy Do, has been accepted to the Mortimer D. Sackler Summer Institute at Weill Cornell Medical School. This year’s course will focus on law and neuroscience specifically as it relates to juvenile justice reform, racial bias and lie detection and feature an all-star cast of distinguished neuroscientists, psychologists and legal scholars as speakers. Congratulations, Kathy!
Undergraduate accepted at UCLA Advanced Neuroimaging Summer Program
Recent graduate, Joao Guassi Moreira, has been accepted to the UCLA-Semel Institute Advanced Neuroimaging Summer Program. This is a two week intensive summer program on advanced topics in neuroimaging that aim to provide a solid foundation in state-of-the-art magnetic resonance neuroimaging methods. Congratulations, Joao!

Congrats to our recent DSN lab alumni, Xin Yuen, Michelle Miernicki, Heather Ross, Liz Barlow Lozano, and Joao Guassi Moreira, who all have exciting endeavors ahead for them.
Xin Yuen will be a Research Manager with the Physician Assistant Education Association.
Michelle Miernicki and Heather Ross will be masters students in the Human Resources and Industrial Relations program at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Liz Barlow Lozano will be a PhD student in social-personality psychology at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
Joao Guassi Moreira will be a PhD student in developmental psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
