Melissa Burroughs Presents at Honors Poster Session!

Our undergraduate research assistant Melissa presented at the Honors Poster Session held in the lobby of Davie Hall. Melissa’s research included the brain as a predictor of risk taking and binge drinking behavior in late adolescence. Congrats, Melissa!

Kathy Is Awarded a CCHD Fellowship!

Kathy has been awarded the Carolina Consortium on Human Development (CCHD) Pre-doctoral Fellowship! She will be receiving funding for 2 years as she continues her line of research  on prosociality during adolescence. Congrats, Kathy!

See-You-Later Dinner for Dr. Sharp

A week from today, Paul will be leaving us and venturing on to London for his post-doctoral position. Before he left, we wanted to celebrate with him one good time at Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery (TOPO). Until next time, Dr. Sharp–congrats once again on the position!

Dr. Telzer is #TENURED

It’s official–Dr. Telzer has officially achieved tenure status! We surprised her in her office with (a lot of) balloons and laughter. Congrats!! A true representation of hard work paying off.

The Dawn of a New Era: #ProjectGradSchool

Virnaliz and Amanda, our two project coordinators for Project NeuroTeen, are headed to grad school this fall. Virnaliz will be attending University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, while Amanda will be attending CUNY John Jay. Congrats, ladies!

Dr. Rogers Takes Texas Tech (SOON)!

Congratulations to Christy! Recently, she accepted a faculty position at Texas Tech University, beginning this upcoming fall. Before she continues her line of research there, studying sibling relationships, she is currently in the process of figuring out what to name her lab, which is exciting within itself. Kudos, again!

Brain Academy Fall 2018

This past Friday, our lab hosted Brain Academy, an extension of UNC’s Tar Heel Preview Day–and it was a blast! Local teens had fun interacting with (actual) sheep brains, understanding the brain, and becoming familiar with EEG and fMRI. Check out the gallery for more pictures!
